This is the guy who stole her baby! I realise it had been a few years and he'd lost some hair, but I think that's the kind of person you'd remember.

They only got their memories back if they were able to find love or let go. It would seem against form for her to remember any of it, cause it would make her life worse.

Holy_Smoke isn't talking about the flashsideways... he's talking about the episode "One of Them" in season two. That's when Rousseau captured Ben in her net.

Ah! Well, it was dark when Ben took Alex and there was gunfire, and it was 16 years earlier. I can't imagine her remembering who Ben Linus was.

This always bugged me, too! Also, the fact that in "Solitary", Rousseau says she's never seen an Other. I guess it's just how she's gone crazy over the years, and maybe her memory has gotten fuzzy?

And you know what? Even if she did remember him, I don't think anything contradicts that. When she turned Ben over to Sayid, she insisted that he was a liar and that he was "one of them," and that Sayid shouldn't be fooled.

I can understand if it would have been too painful for her to explain in more specific detail.

LIL AIMZ: I just rewatched "Solitary", and noticed that we were actually assuming too much about that claim. Sayid said, "Have you seen other people on this island?" Danielle responded, "No, but I hear them. Out there in the jungle. They whisper."

She was really spacy and distracted in that scene, so I don't think it unlikely that she was thinking of "the Others" as a group. And in that sense, it's true that she hadn't seen "them" - she had never encountered their camps, or seen them gathered, etc.

Doesnt she also tell Sayid not to listen to him b/c "he will lie. He will lie for a very long time." I took that as she knew exactly who he was, or atleast knew he was an other. Thats a pretty good description of Ben looking back at it.

Who's to say she didn't recognize him? She identified him to Sayid as an Other immediately. It was basically the Losties who chose to give him the benefit of the doubt...in a sense at least. Granted she didn't launch into a history lesson for Sayid to make it perfectly clear that he was one of them, but for me personally, I'm fine with applying the fact that she simply was not a mentally sound person at the time in the first place.

Because Ben hadn't been written into the show at this point. Michael Emerson was hired on for just a couple of episodes, but his acting was so phenomonal that they decided to write an entire major role for him.
